Our Team

One family, one hillside - one dream we’re building together. An architect, designing the buildings the estate will grow into. A steady hand guiding the business and books. The builder and operator, handling the daily work of running it, vine to glass. A team of talented chefs growing the food and crafting the culinary expression of the land. We each started in different professions, exploring different directions — and chose, deliberately, to build this together. Along the way, we’ve found passionate and talented professionals who share our vision, match our tenacity, and have joined our team. We are excited to share it with you!

Founder

Alex Friend

Pulling from past experiences in business, engineering, and a childhood on her grandparent’s farm, Alex leads the farm and vineyard, from grape sales and vineyard management to accounting. Her computer time is balanced by her love of our livestock, especially our sheep and working with their fiber.

Founder

Doug Friend

An architect whose work runs past design into the making itself—materials, art, carpentry, the build. His eye, and his insistence that we use what the land gives, guides everything our guests see. You'll often find him at his sawmill, milling lumber from a fallen tree.

Director of Operations

Ashton Friend

Ash studied neuroscience in college, spending his summers building a backcountry ski hut with his dad. Master's in hand, his genetics kicked in and he set off to build—from carpentry to general contractor, now leading the building team, as well as running the marketing and daily operations. An avid reader, our master of machines, and our resident goat whisperer.

Future Chefs

Jordan & Andre Block

Jordan is coming home to the family business—for now, she's honing her craft as Chef de Cuisine at a three-Michelin-starred kitchen in California. In September 2025, we gained a son in Andre, as well as a gifted head pastry chef. Between them they carry a decade in some of the country's most demanding kitchens, and they'll bring it home to build TerraFe's culinary program from the ground up—planning the gardens, shaping the menus, and leading the kitchen and table when the estate opens in 2028.

Winemaker

Tony Rynders

Some call him a legend, we just call him Tony. Sought after for his full-flavored, textural expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, he handles our estate fruit with his unique and artistic expression of site. You can find his other work at Tendril Wine Cellars.

Winemaker

Kenny McMahon

A founding member of Method Oregon, Kenny is a rising star in crafting traditional method sparkling wine. He blends his scientific background with dedication, love, and relentless hustle to the acclaim of reviewers and fans alike. He and his wife, Allison, share their work at Arabilis in Amity, Oregon.

Vineyard Manager

Evan Strode

Evan comes with a wealth of vineyard expertise from both formal education and the field - managing some of the most pristine and healthy vineyards in our valley. His agricultural upbringing makes him the perfect partner to support our livestock practices and regenerative vision.
